Sexual Assault and Violence Policy Development and Review Process
In accordance with Ontario Regulation 131/16 S. 3 Sexual Violence at Colleges and Universities, Sault College has established the following process for the provision and consideration of input in the development and review process of the Sexual Assault and Violence Policy from a diverse selection of elected students within the Student Government.
Policy Development & Review Process:
1. During the development or review of the Sexual Assault and Violence Policy, a draft document is prepared by the College in consultation with internal and external stakeholders, including the Sault College Students’ Union (SCSU) President to ensure policy requirements are adhered to.
2. The draft document is provided to the SCSU Executive in advance of a meeting where College officials and SCSU Executive discuss the policy to seek SCSU Executive input.
3. If changes are required as a result of the SCSU Executive input, the College officials will review them and seek additional input from internal and external stakeholders.
4. Amendments to the policy based on all of the input are shared with the SCSU Executive for a final review and recommendation for SCSU Board of Director discussion, input and endorsement.
5. SCSU Board of Directors will have the opportunity to review the policy in advance of a meeting to prepare for discussion, input and endorsement.
6. If the SCSU Board of Directors identifies policy changes during the discussion and input stage, the College officials will review them and seek additional input from internal and external stakeholders.
7. Any amendments made to the policy will be brought forward for additional input and discussion with the SCSU Board of Directors with a motion to endorse the adoption of the policy.
8. The draft policy will be reviewed and approved by the College Executive and then presented to the College Board of Governors for review and approval.
