Delivery Methods
- Classroom Learning
Many courses are offered in a traditional classroom/lab setting. The actual location will be local (in Sault Ste. Marie) and will be listed with each course.
- Independent Study
With this learning method, you can start anytime. Upon registration, a facilitator will be assigned to you for the duration of your course. This mode of learning is truly independent and requires that you be very self-motivated and disciplined.
- Online Learning
Online learning is offered through OntarioLearn - a consortium of 24 colleges in Ontario that have joined together to offer online courses in a way that promotes convenience, quality and variety. We offer many programs that can be completed entirely online, including certificates, graduate certificates, and diploma programs. These courses and programs have multiple start dates throughout the year, providing flexibility to achieve your education goals. Social Ballroom Dancing Continued

Join us for a continuation of Social Ballroom Dancing where we will add to the Foxtrot, Jive and Slow Latin as well as learn the basics of Slow Waltz and Social Tango. You will have the opportunity to review and consolidate what you have learned in Social Ballroom Dancing. Since this course does not follow a specific syllabus, it is intended for relaxed, social dance. Although this course is primarily for couples, singles are welcome (however, we cannot guarantee that we can match up all singles with a partner). A reminder to participants to bring indoor shoes!

Self-Care Yoga

Yoga for everybody (all levels are welcome, especially beginners) that focuses on mindfulness, healing, and self-care practices. Classes start with a short meditation; followed with a gentle yoga flow, where you transition at a slower pace from one pose to another (cues/instructions and modifications are provided throughout); then end with a meditation and a temple massage/acupressure. At the beginning and/or end of each class, students are welcome to take a few minutes to engage in the following: vision board, gratitude journal, affirmation cards/diary.

Health and Safety Training
N95 Mask Fit Testing

Do you work in a healthcare environment? Do you need to be fitted for your mask? The N95 Mask Fit Testing is available in 15 minute blocks on the specified dates below.
Note: Upon registration, you will receive a specific time for your test. Testing will be conducted at Sault College. Please arrive on-time at the Continuing Education Office (A1150). If you are late or do not show, there are no refunds. Withdrawals must be made by 12 pm on the business day preceding the appointment date to qualify for a refund.
Requirements to be tested:
- No smoking at least 30 minutes prior to the fitting
- No gum chewing at least 30 minutes prior to the fitting
- No eating or drinking at least 30 minutes prior to the fitting
- Per the Occupational Health and Safety regulations for Ontario, it states under the rules for mask fit testing that the participant MUST be clean shaven (no facial hair) for a valid fit test. If you are unable to be clean shaven (no facial hair), attend your appointment with a beard cover or speak with your Program Support Assistant or Academic Assistant prior to registering.

Standard First Aid/BLS C/AED

In this comprehensive course, participants will learn how to recognize the signs of heart attack, stroke, and choking emergencies, as well as how to treat respiratory emergencies and use barrier devices like the bag-valve mask (BVM) on adult, child, and pediatric patients. This course teaches the participant how to approach and manage medical emergencies and provide care to the patient until EMS arrives. This course is required for workplaces employing six or more workers in any one shift at a work area or those interested in gaining enhanced first aid knowledge and skills as required by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board under which Second Chance CPR is an approved provider for First Aid programs (WSIB Reg. 1101). This course is also utilized by health care professionals and students entering classes in the Health Care Field (Nursing, Police, Firefighting, Dental Assistants, and Health Care Workers). All courses include an Emergency Action Guide (First Aid Booklet), wallet cards, and printed wall certificates.
Note: You must attend 100% of the classes as per the Canadian First Aid Education Guidelines. As per this requirement, if you arrive late, you will not be permitted into the course. WHMIS in Minutes Online

In cooperation with Internet Based Learning Ltd., Sault College offers online education in Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. The program can be used as stand-alone training for basic WHMIS education or a refresher for those who wish to update previous training. The course requires approximately 2 to 3 hours of time, to be completed at your own pace. It is available in both French and English.
Note:
You will require access to a computer and a printer as well as the internet. After you register, you will receive a password and instructions on how to use the program.
This is offered by Independent Study. It is available anytime.
Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA)

An entry-level course designed for professionals working in significantly remote settings for days or weeks. Wilderness Advanced First Aid is comprehensive medical training designed for remote professionals or wilderness leaders who venture into remote and challenging environments. Wilderness Medicine differs significantly from standard first aid courses and other training that are oriented toward urban environments. This course teaches how to manage medical emergencies when hospitals and rescue services may not be available for an extensive time period. We prepare students for emergency situations that involve prolonged patient care, severe environments, and improvised equipment.
