(Sault Ste. Marie, ON October 21, 2022) – Today, the Sault College community will join together to celebrate many of our fall 2022 graduates at our annual Fall Convocation. This fall, our College welcomes 570 graduates, from a variety of program areas, to the alumni family.
“Convocation is always one of the highlights of the year: an opportunity to join together and celebrate the commitment and perseverance that brought us to this day,” said Dr. Ron Common, Sault College President. “Our students, both past and present, have made our College what it is today and we are proud to have been able to help them find their passions. On behalf of Sault College, I congratulate each graduate on this great achievement and wish them all the best as they begin a new chapter,” he added.
Sault College’s convocation ceremony will highlight graduates from: Aviation, Business, Community Services, Culinary and Hospitality, Engineering Technology, Health, Information Technology, Natural Environment, Skilled Trades, and various Continuing Education certificate programs.
Today’s ceremony includes a keynote address from Ahmad Alkosani, a Sault College Business graduate and a Syrian Refugee who arrived in Sault Ste. Marie in 2018. He is the former Sault College Students’ Union (SCSU) President, and currently serves as Finance Manager for SCSU and part-time accounting professor at Sault College.
The Korahster’s Choir will lead attendees in the singing of our national anthem as well as perform a dedication song, Just Passing By.
In keeping with Sault College tradition, the platform party guests, faculty and graduate procession will be led by the Lone Piper, Kevin Ullrich. Following the presentation of liripipes and credentials, the Obadjiwon Singer and the Enji Maawnjiding Dancers will lead the recessional.
Graduates, along with their families and friends, will celebrate this special occasion with a reception immediately following the ceremony.

In addition to this convocation ceremony, other Sault College graduates in programs located outside of the Sault Ste. Marie campus will be celebrated, including: Toronto and Brampton campuses on November 25, 2022, and the Kenora and Fort Frances – in partnership with Seven Generations Education Institution – ceremonies will be held later in the Spring at those locations.
