The Opportunity: AnEmployment Consultant responsible for developing, planning, implementing and monitoring client activities related to employment training programs and services and may include case management, assisted services, such as employment consulting, coaching/mentoring, placement and training services to assist unemployed workers to return to employment. This also includes participant recruitment and client marketing to employers, training and action plan development, assessment, workshop delivery, group facilitation, matching participants to vacancies, monitoring activities, file documentation and statistical collection. The incumbent will work in a performance based system that includes targets and core measures, which in turn gives a framework for program delivery. With respect to the delivery and day to day operations of Employment Solutions, the incumbent functions as a member of the delivery team and operates in a CQI environment.   

What you need to be successful:

  • a three year diploma/degree in human services or a related field 
    • a business diploma/degree will also be considered 
  • minimum three years’ related experience (i.e. career guidance, employment planning, consulting and/or job placement)   
  • experience working with vulnerable populations (ie: indigenous, social assistance recipients, youth, individuals with disabilities, newcomers) 
  • highly developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills 
  • coaching and mentoring experience 
  • strong customer service/client-centered focus in employment history 
  • experience developing/delivering workshops and group facilitation 
  • ability to interpret, analyze and assess employment needs and barriers 
  • proven consultation skills and experience 
  • demonstrated experience working with targets and outcomes 
  • demonstrated knowledge of local labour market and community agencies 
  • solid understanding of CQI methodology 
  • demonstrated ability to lead projects 
  • demonstrated ability to complete concrete specific customer action plans 
  • ability to work proficiently in a networked environment utilizing Microsoft Office products 
  • working knowledge of Indigenous cultures considered an asset 
  • bilingualism also considered an asset 

This is a 35 hours/week, full-time support staff position, Payband I - $35.04-$40.60 (starting rate $35.04/hour).
