Frequently Asked Questions
Sault College, through its partnership with Contact North, offers a number of popular courses. This learning method requires that you attend an “electronic classroom” at a specific time in a community with a Contact North site. Visit StudyOnline.ca for a list of locations. Courses are offered by audio conferencing, video conferencing and Internet technologies that link the instructor and other students at various locations throughout Northern Ontario. This learning mode is suitable for those who like structure and enjoy group learning.

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions:
When can I register for a Contact North course?
These courses have scheduled classroom meetings. There are specific start and end dates each term. To avoid disappointment, please register prior to the Thursday of the course start date. If we do not have enough enrolment, the course will be cancelled.
How and when do I get my textbook and course materials?
Your course material needs to be ordered as soon as you register for your course from www.saultshop.ca. Check the Help/Faq section of Efollett for more information. Letters from sponsoring agencies declaring their
intent to pay for materials on behalf of the students are also accepted.
The material is listed for each course in the course offerings section. The course material has to be paid for independently of the course fee unless otherwise stated. The Campus Shop will send your course materials to
you via Purolator if you have a street mailing address. If you have a P.O. Box address, the Campus Shop will call you with further instructions. All prices quoted are subject to change.
It may take up to three weeks to receive your material. Courses will note where material is included in the fee.
If your material arrives damaged or incomplete, please call the Campus Shop within two days of receipt of the material. To receive a refund for a textbook, material must be unopened, unmarked and returned within five days of receipt of the material. Refunds will not be processed without the packing slip or receipt. Study Guides that are printed in-house cannot be returned. Return materials directly to the Campus Shop, Sault College, 443 Northern Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6A 4J3.
Where do I find a Contact North site in my area?

Can I withdraw from the course? Transfer?
To withdraw or transfer from a course, you will need to let the Registrar’s Office know 705-759-6700 (option #3) before the second scheduled class. A refund (less a $15 administration fee) will ONLY be issued for a withdrawal request made prior to the second scheduled class.
How do I get a tax receipt?
Your Income Tax Receipt (T2202A) will be available to you through my.saultcollege.ca (student portal) mid-February for eligible courses taken in the previous year. If you are experiencing difficulty accessing my.saultcollege.ca, please use Firefox internet browser. You will need your student number and use welcomepostalcode as your password to access the student portal.
How do I receive my final grade?
Your instructor will send your final grade to Sault College once it is calculated. (Instructors must post grades within 3 weeks of the end date of your course.) You can view your final grade report at my.saultcollege.ca (student portal). If you are experiencing difficulty accessing my.saultcollege.ca, please use Firefox internet browser.
