The Opportunity
 

A part-time Mechanical Technologist to provide specialized technical services to the Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Techniques, Machine Shop, post-secondary programs as well as the Millwright and Machinist apprenticeship programs. The incumbent will assist students and faculty in the Mechanical Department and will repair and maintain equipment in the mechanical/machine shop areas, maintain a safe shop environment and design and prepare equipment/material used in practical shop student activities.

What you need to be successful:

  • certificate of qualification in the Machinist or Millwright trades

  • forklift safety and rigging certifications

  • minimum three years work experience as a licensed journeyperson in the trade(s) working in industrial environment

  • strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment

  • strong commitment to academic excellence and student success

  • must possess ability to, and genuine interest in, meeting the educational needs of students, and sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural/ethnic backgrounds of the students

    This is a regular part-time support staff, $26.08/hour, up to 24 hours/week, 10 month position.
