The Opportunity: A Residence Advisor is a member of the Sault College community appointed to be an advisor, resource and mentor to students in residence.  The role consists of, but is not limited to: supporting students in personal and academic matters and making appropriate referrals to College or community services, resolving disputes and maintaining community standards, providing a “first response” to emergency or crisis situations, providing support to other staff members on the residence team, organizing, in conjunction with the residence staff, educational programming events that meet the needs of residence students, ensuring that Ray Lawson Hall Handbook and the Student Code of Conduct are adhered to and reporting accurately violations to these documents. The incumbent must be available for regular shifts during evenings/weekends/holidays.

What you need to be successful:

  • current student or diploma or degree in Human Services or Community Services
  • valid Emergency First Aid & Heart Saver "C" CPR + AED
  • excellent problem solving skills
  • effective time management skills
  • strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • strong attention to detail
  • ability to follow instructions
  • strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team environment

This is a live-in position for the 2021-22 academic year. Remuneration is room and parking.  Additional extra storage available for discounted rates.
