Program Development Intern

The Opportunity: The Program Development Intern will research recreation and adventure programs for the Waterfront Adventure Centre as well as the Athletic Department and will assist in the planning and implementing of these programs. The intern will help to develop campus recreation goals and objectives consistent with the College’s strategic goals and provide evaluations of the recreation and adventure programs and recommendations for future events. The Program Development intern will also assist in: the daily operation of the Waterfront Adventure Centre, ensuring appropriate rules and policies are followed, developing marketing material and working with appropriate departments to disseminate information, researching, developing and implementing training for staff, and tracking and maintaining participation and member statistics during all activities and events.

What you need to be successful:

  • degree or diploma in Fitness, Health Promotion, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical and Health Education, Health Sciences, Outdoor Recreation, Natural Environment, or Community Services
  • experience and desire to work in a recreational setting with various age groups
  • experience and certification with waterfront activities considered an asset
  • proven verbal and written communication skills
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team
  • strong leadership, problem solving and decision making skills
  • ability to positively represent the college when working with staff and community members

This is a Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation contract position funded for one year. In order to be eligible for the position of Program Development Intern, the candidate must have graduated within the last three years from an accredited college or university. The candidate must be a graduate of a post-secondary degree or diploma program. The position will be a first full-time employment in the candidate’s field of study.
