The Opportunity: A Diversity and Inclusion Associate to plan and implement student programming to support the needs and interests of under-represented and vulnerable student populations. Programming to enhance the following initiatives are directly supported by the incumbent: orientation, awareness weeks, cultural events (Pow Wow, Diwali etc.), job fairs, holidays, and student success initiatives. The Diversity and Inclusion Associate will maintain records and data on all initiatives and, at times, will be required to prepare and present information to students and colleagues. 

What you need to be successful:

  • diploma or degree in Human Relations or Community Services  
  • minimum one year experience in a post-secondary or other education environment 
  • experience working with under-represented populations, including Indigenous, LGBTQ+ and visible minorities 
  • demonstrated understanding of heterosexism, cissexism and other oppressions and how they impact individuals, families, institutions and communities 
  • knowledge of harm reduction and trauma informed care 
  • positive, inclusive attitude and the ability to work with a diverse group of students and staff 
  • experience planning and facilitating programming, workshops or events 
  • excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills 
  • ability to apply a lens of equity, diversity and inclusion 
  • ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise diplomacy and tact 
  • knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 
  • ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment 

This is a regular part-time support staff position, $20.80/hour, up to 24 hours/week.
