The Opportunity

A Motive Power Technologist to provide technical expertise, support, and guidance to students on all aspects of equipment repair/forklift operation and safety, proper procedures and diagnostic aspects of Heavy Equipment & Truck Coach trades, perform and supervise maintenance of shop equipment by students, control supply inventories, design and construct teaching aids with students and professors, and maintain clean lab and shop areas.

What you need to be successful:

  • Certificate of Qualification in the Truck Coach and/or Heavy Equipment Trades
  • Forklift Certificate and ODP Certificate
  • minimum five years apprenticeship experience plus five years journeyperson work experience in the trade
  • strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • knowledge of a variety of software packages
  • strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
  • must possess ability to, and genuine interest in, meeting the educational needs of students, and sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural/ethnic backgrounds of the students

This is a full-time support staff, 35 hours/week, 10 month position, Payband I – $34.69 - $40.20 (starting rate $34.69/hour).
