Sault College Supports Students Through COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic has had significant impacts on all of our lives and our students are no exception. Throughout all of this, our students have shown their resilience, perseverance and ability to thrive in unprecedented times. Sault College remains committed to supporting its students and, as part of this, has partnered with the Sault College Students’ Union to launch many important student-centred initiatives.
Together, Sault College and the Sault College Students’ Union have collaborated to re-open the student food bank as well as establish the COVID-19 Student Relief Fund. Each of these initiatives assists our students in different yet important ways and provides an added level of support to help them succeed as we move through these fluid and challenging times.
The College is tremendously grateful for those who have donated or have reached out about supporting our students. United Way Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District - Harvest Algoma graciously stepped up to help to provide a healthy food source for our students through our student food bank. This type of support has been instrumental in making these types of initiatives become a reality.
“Our students are at the centre of everything we do and I am so proud and grateful to see all of the hard work and dedication of our Sault College and broader community come to fruition through these types of initiatives,” said Dr. Ron Common, President, Sault College. “COVID-19 has affected all of us in different ways and this type of support can have lasting impacts on the lives of our students. I am tremendously grateful to everyone who has and continues to go above and beyond to help our students,” he added.
“For our students, having extra support during this time of uncertainty offers some level of relief and it has been inspiring to see the College and broader community pull together for our students,” added Ahmad Alkosani, President, Sault College Students’ Union.
