How to get here
Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario is centrally located at the heart of the Great Lakes on the international border to the United States, connected with an excellent highway system in both Canada and the U.S. Our aviation hangar is located at the Sault Ste. Marie airport, and our main campus is a twenty-minute drive from the airport.
Here’s how to find us if driving:
From south-western Ontario or the U.S.: Take the Interstate 75, enter the U.S. via Sarnia/Port Huron or Windsor/ Detroit. Be sure to have your passport on you. It will take about five hours to reach us.
From southern Ontario via Toronto: Take Hwy. 400 heading north to Hwy. 69, and then to TransCanada Hwy. 17 at Sudbury, heading west to Sault Ste. Marie. It will take you about seven hours if you drive this way.
From eastern Ontario via Ottawa: Take Hwy. 417 towards Kanata, which becomes TransCanada Hwy. 17. Head west towards Sault Ste. Marie. Approximate drive time is nine hours.From Northern Ontario and Western Canada: Take TransCanada Hwy. 17 south. It takes about eight hours to drive from Thunder Bay to Sault Ste. Marie.
Porter, Bearskin, and Air Ontario/Canada/Jazz all fly into and out of Sault Ste. Marie several times a day. Car rentals, cabs and limousines are available at the airport when you land.
It takes just over one hour to reach Sault Ste. Marie when you fly from Toronto.
Sault College’s main campus is within walking distance of many attractive and conveniently-located hotels, motels, and restaurants within every price range. Great Northern Road, off of Northern Avenue, has the Marriott, Super 8, Water Tower Inn, Satellite Motel, Comfort Suites and Conference Centre, and the Days Inn, just to name a few.
